The immense health benefits of hing (Asafoetida or Heeng) are as follows:
Indigestion: Since ages, hing is being used to treat indigestion. To aid in the process of digestion on a regular basis it can be consumed everyday by adding in curries and other gravy dishes. It also has excellent anti-inflammatory properties. For prompt relief from gas, abdominal pain and indigestion symptoms, a small piece or a pinch or two can be dissolve in half a cup of water and consumed.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases: A research study carried out in Egypt has indicated that anti-parasitic properties of hing can be utilized in several genital tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases.

Precautions to be taken while using hing

When consumed in large quantities, hing can cause nausea and vomiting in some people because of its strong flavour and pungent smell. Excessive intake can give rise to throat irritation, swollen lips, and burping. People suffering from stomach infections must not consume it in large quantities as it can worsen their condition by irritating the digestive tract. Pregnant women should avoid using it as it does possess some abortifacient properties.
