Cancer Symptoms You Must Not Miss

Cancer Symptoms You Must Not Miss

Cancer may not present with pronounced symptoms in its initial stages but eventually a malignant tumour will grow large enough to affect other organs and systems, resulting in noticeable symptoms and signs.

As the tumour grows, it may press upon nerves or enter blood vessels. This may cause bleeding and pain.

7 Warning Signs of Cancer

The American Cancer Society has used the word CAUTION to recognize the early signs of cancer.

C – Change in bowel or bladder habits

A – A sore that does not heal

U – Unusual bleeding or discharge

T – Thickening or lump in the breast, testicles or elsewhere

I – Indigestion or difficulty in swallowing

O – Obvious change in the size, colour, shape or thickness of a wart, mole or mouth sore

N – Nagging cough or hoarseness

The below symptoms may signal the presence of some types of cancer:

  • Continual headaches
  • Unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite
  • Persistent pain in bones or in any other areas of the body
  • Fatigue or nausea/vomiting
  • Repeated infections
  • Persistent low-grade fever

Seek Medical Attention, if

The above mentioned symptoms do not seem to be related to any other cause, or persist for more than two weeks. Your physician will do a thorough medical examination and may order some tests. If the cause of symptoms comes out as cancer, early diagnosis and proactive treatment will result in positive prognosis.
